Undialu thanks Minister Pok

BY ISAAC NICHOLAS - POST COURIER
Hela Governor Philip Undialu has heaped praise on Petroleum Minister Dr Fabian Pok for signing the ministerial determination at Hides PDL1 and PDL7 on Saturday.
He said some so-called consultants had benefitted from K15-K20 million for conducting clan vetting exercise and various court battles between landowner groups in the past 15 years at the expense of the people.
Mr Undialu said Dr Pok and the Petroleum Department officers had used K500,000 in two weeks to complete the clan vetting for Hides PDL1 and PDL7.
He was speaking after Dr Pok signed the ministerial determination for the two PDL areas at the project sites at Para Primary School for PDL7 and Yuni for PDL1 landowners on Saturday.
“The minister’s signature took less than one minute to sign something that we have waited for 10 years,” Mr Undialu said.
He said the minister after getting the list from the LOBID or landowner clan vetting process did not want to meet any landowner leaders in Port Moresby but preferred to ask all landowners to be in Hides to take part in the process.
“If there is 100 signatures on the list that you people gave him, that is the 100 names that the minister signed, not 99 or 101.”
He said the gas landowners will receive their 100 per cent benefits.
“After the 28 days, MRDC will come in to open bank accounts. As governor, I will talk to Bank South Pacific to open branch or agency or have ATM machines in Hides PDL7 and PDL for people to access their cash component of the benefits.”
Mr Undialu said under the law, the benefit split would be 40 per cent as cash component, 30 per cent for community projects like schools, aid posts and water supply and the rest would be for future generation that would be held in trust

An Insight of Koroba Lake Kopiago Happening

It is really challenging and of course very risky for our elected leaders to lead and provide services to our new born Hela Province. The leaders that we elect all have the potential to provide services, but some of them could not due to court cases.
While Some of our leaders were really busy with court cases in Waigani, the MP for Koroba Lake Kopiago and Minister for Immigration and Border Authority Hon. Petrus Thomas waste no time and deliver service to his electorate despite country's cash flow problem and tribal fight and natural disaster happened in our province.
Some of the services that Hon. Petrus Thomas deliver within his short peroid of time (9months) in parliament that I know of are as follows;
1. Signed partnership agreement with NAC to upgrade all the airstips in Koroba Kopiago which will start work early next year.
2. Signed partnership agreement with AusAid to build a hospital in Kopiago and Koroba. The signing and the ground breaking ceremony was witnessed ny Australian High Commission and MP Petrus Thomas.
3. Signed partnership agreement with Oil Search to improve agriculture in KLK The signing was witnessed by Oil Search MD Peter Botten and MP Petrus Thomas.
4. Bought Police Vehicle for Kopiago from the partnership with Kumul Petroleum Holdings and the vehicle was presented to Kopiago in the presence of Police Minister, Police Commissioner and other delegates in Kopiago last month.
5. Presented K200,000 cheque to Koroba Secondary last week to build classrooms, staff house and do maintenance. The cheque was given to a Catholic Bishop in Koroba during Koroba Secondary graduation last week.
6. Launching of PNG Power Project in partnership with KLK DDA from Karai to Hetamari in South Koroba last week. The commissioning was witnessed by MP Petrus Thomas, PNG Power Managing Director and other delegates.
7. Construction of New Highway from Kelabo to Kopiago
These are some of the services that was delivered under the leadership of Petrus Thomas. From the services that he provided within the short peroid of time, I can conclude that Koroba Lake Kopiago is on the right track in terms of service delivery and there will be more services delivered under his leadership. We all must put our political differences aside and work together hand in hand to develop our electorate.
