ExxonMobil supports Kutubu’s festival with K50,000
Posted by The National
EXXONMOBIL PNG presented a cheque of K50,000 to help with transportation and logistics of singsing groups for this year’s Kutubu Kundu and Digaso Festival.
The operator of PNG LNG Project made the presentation to the festival committee member recently at the Daga village, Southern Highlands.
ExxonMobil PNG’s pipeline operations supervisor Noah Pingin said the festival continued to be an important event because it helped promote the uniqueness of Kutubu’s rich socio-cultural practices and traditions through dress, song, dance, and food.
“We are honoured to be part of this community driven initiative that aims to preserve local cultural heritage and promote tourism in the areas in which we operate,” Pingin said.
With this year’s theme as “Strongim na Wok Bung Wantaim” the festival will run from Sept 19 to 21 and will bring together people from Kutubu, Bosavi and Samberigi in Southern Highlands, Kikori in Gulf and also from Hela.
